Hotel Coolrooms Maldà

Coolrooms is a hotel chain that gives priority to rooms over the establishment’s common spaces and services. This project, Coolrooms Maldà, consisted of transforming a hostel in a very bad state of conservation into a quality hotel in the heart of Barcelona. The project for this hotel, situated on the first floor of the Palau Maldà (17th century), consisted of the total demolition of the interior, the refurbishment of the building, with major structural issues, and the roof. As far as the program distribution,  as many rooms as possible have been fitted into a rigid existing structure. The interior design proposes welcoming spaces, with contemporary furniture combined with classic elements that evoke the original Palau Maldà.
